Making April Wooly

I may have been silent on the blog front, I definitely have been quieter on instagram, my camera has seen a small fraction of its regular use, this is true.  I have however been doing a TON of making!! I've gotten quite a a few fiber goodies, some super pretty crafting supplies and I've even taken out my sewing machine. This surge of inspiration has been lovely, and so far May has been looking quite promising, but I'll speak on that another day.

I have picked my spindle back up, thanks to a few people who have asked me to teach them to spin, whilst I'm not a great teacher, or an expert spinner(I've only got a couple years under my belt after all) I can give a little demonstration and show you the basics while pointing you to an informative videos and links for where to get fiber. So thats something! I personally think that learning with a spindle is the best way, a low cost introduction that teaches you the basics and can do (nearly) everything the wheel does. not only is it less expensive, it so much fun!
While searching around for some simple lighter spindles to teach with  I found something that brought out my inner seven year old rock lover(who never really went away)

This beauty was from Tinasangoras, Isn't it amazing, its made of Jasperand bronzite. Anne was so sweet and sent me this awesome fiber to try with it! I think its just lovely and she was so quick in sending them too, (I may have ordered a couple more spindles, They are so well priced and these are honestly the best I have ever used!)

I've finished Ambers green yarn, which turned out lovely, however, I think i'll be staying away from green for awhile... so  much green!  I gave her about five or six skeins total for a birthday present, it was so much green.

needing a totally different color I spun some petal pink merino for my Mom (in-law)

Some amazing Flax merino silk blend called "march hare" by nunoco that is just so neat! I've had to spin it worsted because of the flax so its taking me a wee bit longer than usual, Jake has claimed the finished product, it makes me so happy that people want to knit with my Spinning!

Some yummy merino came in the mail at the end of april,  I was running low on fiber so I had to add some more and I had never tried rolags, this is a puni style rolag from blue barn fiber ... and it has SPARKLE!

With my knitting I am trying to keep to the idea of Finish or Frog, I have two projects actively on the needles (chuck and a Pretty basic shawl)and one that has been hibernating(jakes FORT) and a travel knitting project(a sock thats just ribbing)

I tried weaving for the first time too, Mom Got me a loom while she was here, and it is absolutely my new addiction!  Its so calming, I'm not too serious about perfecting it, I'm just really having fun and enjoying it!
